Vaginal Rejuvenation at Minnesota LabiaplastyAbout Vaginal Rejuvenation

After childbirth or through natural aging, many women experience a relaxation to the muscular structure of the vagina. This results in decreased sexual gratification.

Often, the answer to many women has been Kegel exercises. In some cases, we have been able to help women improve muscle tone with correct application of this procedure. For many women however, this has not been enough to rejuvenate the vagina and restore previous function.

What is it like? Here's a view from one of our patients:

Dr. Ashford is an exceptional doctor with an excellent bedside manner. As a female looking for vaginal rejuvenation after three pregnancies, the thought of being examined by any doctor made me anxious. However, Dr. Ashford has such a calm & caring bedside manner that he quickly put my worries at ease, and I was able to open up with all my concerns with his genuine interest in my overall health.

I first learned about Dr. Ashford when I researched the top Minnesota surgeons and his name was among them. I live 2 1/2 hours away from his office, but the drive is well worth his expertise and the friendliness of his staff is second to none.

I admire how Dr. Ashford truly listens and remains an active partner throughout the entire process. He even called me at home the day after my procedure to personally check up on me and my comfort level.

I am incredibly happy with my overall results & my confidence in myself has grown as well. There is no doubt in my mind that this procedure is worth it!!! As a result of Dr. Ashford taking the necessary time to ensure my needs, concerns, and questions were fully met prior to my procedures, I had an incredibly positive experience from the start to the very end. Thank you, Dr. Ashford, for using your talents to improve the lives of others!!! You are exceptional!!!

The Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedure

The Vaginal Rejuvenation procedure (also known as vaginoplasty) decreases the diameter of the vagina both internally and externally and strengthens the musculature of the vagina and supporting tissue. Since many women also experience stress urinary incontinence as a result of muscle tone reduction, they often choose to have this corrected at the same time.

Exceptional Combined Treatment:
Multimodality Full Compartment Vaginoplasty

This unique combination of procedures is offered only by Dr. Ashford and Minnesota Labiaplasty. To achieve an absolutely outstanding outcome, Dr. Ashford combines FemiLift, Vaginoplasty, and Pelvic Floor Muscle Conditioning. Each of these procedures on its own has great results, but in Dr. Ashford's experience, when combined the result is unparalleled.

Misconceptions about Vaginal Rejuvenation (Vaginoplasty)

In the past decade, the number of requests from women for vaginal rejuvenation and other cosmetic surgery procedures has increased dramatically. There is some confusion about vaginal rejuvenation and what it actually means. Vaginal rejuvenation (vaginoplasty) is the strengthening of the vaginal structure. While it may be performed at the same time as labiaplasty, it is a different procedure. (Read more about labiaplasty here.) We have included a diagram on the right that identifies each part of the external female genitalia for clarification.

Frequently asked questions about vaginal rejuvenation

Vaginal Rejuvenation is the tightening the musculature of the vagina to remedy the relaxation that may occur due to childbirth or the natural aging process. Labiaplasty or labia reduction is a surgical process to reshape or resize the inner "lips" of the labia. The two processes may be combined, but are very different procedures.

Yes, it can. The vaginal birth process may undo the rejuvenation, so it's best to wait until you're done having kids.

Possibly. Everyone's anatomy is unique. The best way to find out is to schedule an appointment and consult with Dr. Ashford about your particular situation.

In most cases, the procedure takes about an hour. Since everyone has a different anatomy and there may be other factors involved, the time may vary for you. Dr. Ashford can advise you when you come in for an appointment prior to the procedure.
